In January, we received basic training in the VSA-1215, a model of vibration analyzer from Datastick Systems. Over the next few months we will be using this handheld tool and getting familiar with it. Vibrations from engines, generators, or drive systems can be analyzed and diagnosed. The advantages of this type of analysis is two fold. First, diagnosis of existing problems can be more accurate and second, problems can be found before they actually become "problems".
